Plain-English overview
License summary
This summary is for convenience. The End User License Agreement controls if there is a conflict.
The short version
The Ledger is licensed, not sold. A valid trial or perpetual license unlocks write access. Without one, The Ledger may continue opening company files read-only.
Perpetual means the license term does not expire
A perpetual license allows indefinite use of the licensed version on activated, compatible systems. It does not automatically include future major versions, separately licensed modules, hosted services, paid support, custom development, migration, or guaranteed future compatibility.
Activations
A standard license is intended for one licensed person and may allow up to five reasonable workstation activations. License certificates are machine-bound and should not be copied, forged, shared, or circumvented.
Your files remain your responsibility
You choose where company files live and remain responsible for backups, access control, security, record retention, professional judgment, and verifying accounting and compliance results.
The trial comes first
Use the free 30-day trial to test your systems and workflows before buying. No payment information is required to start the trial.
